Intercessions for Sunday 30th August 2020

Heavenly Father,

as we bring before you our prayers for ourselves and for those in need, we thank you for your love for all creation.  Help us to be good stewards of the environment and good neighbours wherever there is crisis in the world.

We pray for the churches in our Team Parish, as some are being prepared for public services.  Thank you for the dedicated work of our churchwardens and volunteers as they follow the guidance to keep us as safe as possible.  We pray for all who preach your word, inspire, lead and grow us as disciples, so that we too may follow the teaching and example of your Son, Jesus: reaching out to those in need of your presence in their lives.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer

We pray for our government and for all world leaders in their daily work to do the best for everyone in their care.  We thank you for the work of the United Nations, for peacekeeping forces and diplomatic negotiators, for aid agencies working in refugee camps, especially where the Coronavirus threatens the lives of the most vulnerable.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer

As our children and grandchildren return to schools this week, we pray for the staff and pupils of all the schools and colleges in our parish.   May the teaching be rewarding; may the learning together in classes and groups be appreciated and valued by our young people.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer

We pray for all who are housebound, in nursing homes, in hospital, in recovery, especially (add the names of those on your heart).  We thank you for all who work in the NHS and in care homes; for the community workers in and out of people’s homes every day, for their dedication and commitment to the needs of their patients.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer

Guided and transformed by you, may we recognise our responsibility to encourage and uphold one another and to live together in peace and love.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen
